Temporary Extension at the Coach & Horses Public House

Introduction

The owners of the Coach & Horses contacted us following an advert in an industry publication.

The Coach & Horses Public House is a Listed building in Hertfordshire, and due to the Covid-19 restrictions seating within the premises was severely limited.

They needed a robust solution with an integral floor to increase their restaurant capacity.

The Vision

The Coach and Horses wanted to create robust weatherproof additional seating during the winter months. Helping them to maintain the pubs capacity whilst still complying with the Covid-19 restrictions.

However, they did not want the extension to have a negative impact on their patio or garden once removed. This was a perfect fit for us as all of our structures have an integral flooring which sits on raised feet, the feet also level the building. The base of our structure (the feet) leaves no permanent damage to the ground where it is situated. Therefore once removed, you wouldn’t even know it had been there.

Here’s what Debbie had to say from the Coach and Horses:

The structure is fantastic – our opening weekend went with a bang and we are “BACK IN THE GAME” in terms of trading.

Your guys were brilliant and they worked really hard.

Worldwide Structures Ltd Delivered:

  • A 10m x 12m all-terrain platform, complete with a 10M x 12M single storey flat roof structure with architectural glass panels. This structure had to be built on the existing flagstone patio without fixing to the ground

  • The structure also had to be built around an existing large diameter tree stump that had been turned into a table. This was achievable due to the cassette flooring we use in our all-terrain platform.  This allowed us to remove sections of the flooring around the tree stump and then infill the gaps with panels manufactured on site.  This did not detract from the weatherproof ability or structural integrity of the building.  Allowing the temporary structure to use the tree stump table as a feature within the building

  • Access to the build site was limited and all components had to be manually moved from the unloading bay to the build site

  • The structure was built in 3 days with 6 crew and was ready for opening after 4 days, once we oversaw elements of the internal fit out
