Skoda at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012 & 2013

Skoda at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2012 & 2013

We have been supplying structures for The Goodwood Festival of Speed for over ten years. The Festival is an annual hill climb featuring historic racing vehicles in the grounds of Goodwood House, and it attracts 185,000 visitors plus multiple high profile motor manufacturers looking to showcase their vehicles in spectacular fashion.

The Vision

ŠKODA was official partner of the Festival of Speed and the Festival is their biggest consumer event of the year. The vision for 2012 was to build a prestigious structure that created a suitable environment for VIP hospitality on the upper level, and a visitor experience on the ground level to launch ŠKODA’s first ever city car, the Citigo.

The System

We built a 20m by 25m, two storey building with an external balcony at first floor level, 2.5m architectural glass wall panels and a VIP viewing deck at roof level. A full height atrium standing at over 7 metres was envisaged. We employed our unique clear span SPACE Roof System® which reduced the need for internal columns and allowed for the creation of a full height space. Our flexible SPACE building system® also enabled bespoke cladding and vinyl wrap to be attached directly to the external frame, a large LED screen to be attached to an external wall, and a helter-skelter to be installed between the first and ground floors. The structure was also built on challenging sloping terrain with a fall of 1.5m front to back.
