Extension for Pret A Manger

Extension for Pret A Manger

Pret a Manger are a mainstay of any high street with over 350 branches worldwide. They opened their first shop in 1986 and since then have grown steadily.  Specialising in fresh food and organic coffee, Pret a Manger now serve over 300,000 customers daily.

The Vision

Pret a Manger approached Worldwide Structures Ltd to supply a temporary structure to one of its flagship branches at a prestigious Outlet Village, in order to increase its indoor seating capacity during the winter months and busy Christmas period. Pret wanted the temporary extension to have the look and feel of the permanent building, all within the confines of the small courtyard adjacent to the shop.  The temporary building had to be connected to the existing permanent building.

The System

Due to the unique nature of the Space Building System, we were able to deliver a 6m x 12m single storey flat roof structure with solid and glazed architectural panels. This structure was constructed on a multi-level decked platform, within a walled courtyard. In addition to the standard building system, a bespoke manufactured, weatherproof inter-connecting section was installed, linking the temporary structure to the existing building.  The Space Building System allowed the shop fitting contractors to carry the permanent shop décor into the temporary structure with ease.

 Worldwide Structures Ltd Delivered

  • A temporary structure, into an enclosed area, without the need for plant equipment, whilst the shop continued to trade without disturbance.
  • A Weatherproof inter-connecting section, allowing customers a seamless transition between the existing building and the temporary structure.
  • Detailed technical drawings and advice to other sub-contractors, to ensure a trouble-free installation within budget and on time.
